Holly Fischer is a New York City-based cinematographer and director. Raised on O’ahu, Hawai’i and a graduate of Hofstra University. A storyteller at heart, she has captured documentary, narrative and commercial shorts across the country, with an empathetic and authentic lens.

As in-house Director of Photography for Refinery29 from 2017 to 2020, she was responsible for the visual style of various editorial series, reaching millions of viewers. These included the online phenomenons ‘Hair Me Out’ and ‘Beauty with Mi’, along with celebrity coverage and content for global brands including Adidas, Porsche, Target, Chanel, Dyson, Ulta Beauty, Biore and Bed Bath & Beyond.

In 2021 she joined VICE Media Group’s digital team as Director of Photography; filming under an even larger umbrella of digital brands including VICE, VICE News, Munchies, and Refinery29.

Holly also works on independent narratives and documentaries, workshopping stories and realizing the unique visions of her collaborators. Presently, she has a feature documentary and a short narrative on which Holly served as DOP (Black As U R and Nostos) that are screening on the global festival circuit.

In addition to her work as a cinematographer, Holly has a budding career as a director, having acted as field director for Refinery29, BBC4, The Gates Foundation and Instagram. In late 2020 she directed her first branded content film for Ritz, Our Table: Why I Am Proud to Celebrate My Disability.
